The Sony-Honda Afeela 1 EV will start at $89,900, arrive in mid-2026

After years of anticipation and endless speculation, the Afeela 1 is finally making its grand debut and zooming into the EV scene.

Sony and Honda, two giants in their respective industries, have joined forces to disrupt the automotive industry with their innovative approach to electric vehicles with the Afeela 1.

The unlikely duo joined forces in 2022 to create Sony Honda Mobility (SHM). This joint venture leverages Honda’s automaking expertise with Sony’s innovative technology to launch new-generation EVs.

SHM will market its vehicles under the Afeela brand. At a press conference at CES 2025, they recently unveiled pricing and preorder details for their debut vehicle.

The Afeela 1 comes in two trims: the Origin and the Signature, with prices set at $89,900 and $109,900, respectively. Both trims offer innovative features and include a complimentary three-year subscription that grants access to Afeela’s Level 2+ Intelligent Drive, an AI-powered Personal Agent, a library of entertainment content, customizable digital themes, and 5G data connectivity—all designed to enhance your in-car experience.

Both the Origin and Signature models are compatible with Tesla’s expansive Supercharger Network, ensuring increased charging convenience. The vehicles have an EPA-estimated 300-mile range and fast-charging speeds of up to 150 kW.

Unfortunately, this range lags behind similarly priced competitors, such as the Lucid Air, which gets a greater range of 420 miles.

Despite the Afeela 1’s range, its advanced technology is a game-changer. The vehicle will feature a staggering 40 sensors, 18 cameras, 1 LIDAR array, nine radar sets, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, making it one of the most sophisticated driving assist features in the market.

Deliveries for the Afeela 1 Signature are anticipated to start in mid-2026, with the Origin trim to follow in 2027.

Currently, reservations for the highly anticipated vehicle are only available to California-based customers. It’s unclear when reservations will open up to customers in other states. Consumers interested in purchasing the cars can make an online reservation with a refundable fee of $200.
