Stellantis’ Q3 shipments slip 1% as CEO rejects brand split

Stellantis shipments fell 1% in the third quarter as CEO Antonio Filosa rejected a split of its European and US brands.

Key takeaways Stellantis shipments fell 1% to 1.3 million vehicles in the third quarter. North American shipments dropped 12% after a summer shutdown hit Jeep models. CEO Antonio Filosa rejected splitting Stellantis’ European and US brands.

On the Dash:

  • Stellantis shipments fell 1% to 1.3 million vehicles in the third quarter.
  • North American shipments dropped 12% after a summer shutdown hit Jeep models.
  • CEO Antonio Filosa rejected splitting Stellantis’ European and US brands.

According to the Detroit automaker, Stellantis reportedly shipped an estimated 1.3 million vehicles worldwide in Q3, which is down 1% from a year ago, the company said Tuesday. A summer production shutdown in North America drove the drop.

Per the report, North American shipments fell 12% to 357,000 units, while shipments of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Compass each fell by 25,000 units. Additionally, European shipments rose 10% to 588,000 units, driven by strong EV demand. That total includes about 44,000 Leapmotor vehicles, which Stellantis sells in the region.

Filosa rules out a brand split

In a separate event, the automaker’s CEO Antonio Filosa also rejected the idea of separating the company’s European and U.S. brands. Filosa said all 14 brands play a unique role in the strategy. At the Paris Motor Show, Filosa was asked during a Bloomberg Television interview about splitting brands like Citroën and Fiat from Jeep and Ram. Filosa said that because the automaker develops the powertrains and computing architecture used across all its models worldwide, every brand relies on this shared foundation.

Additionally, Filosa is reviewing how the group spends across its brands. While many chase the same mass-market buyers, the $70 billion FaSTLAne 2030 plan, unveiled in May, directs 70% of product investment to five areas. Those are Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Fiat, and the commercial-vehicle unit Pro One.

The Detroit automaker’s shares in Milan have dropped nearly 60% this year. That is the worst showing in Europe’s Stoxx 600 Index.

Chinese partners and profit

Filosa has said Chinese partners Leapmotor and Dongfeng help Stellantis fill excess European capacity without closing plants. In May, Stellantis and Dongfeng announced an investment of about 1 billion euros ($1.17 billion) in a Wuhan, China, plant. The plant will build Peugeot and Jeep new-energy vehicles starting in 2027.

Stellantis lost $26 billion in 2025 but earned 293 million euros in the second quarter. The company has “already crossed the point to be profitable again,” Filosa said. Filosa also said Stellantis is “not at all” considering a sale of Maserati.
