Stellantis is betting on its newly redesigned Ram Heavy Duty trucks to reverse three years of persistent sales slump.
The newly redesigned Ram 2025 2500 and 3500 pickups feature overhauled exteriors and interiors and will feature new 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engines. These powerful engines, boasting an impressive 430 horsepower and 1,075 foot-pounds of torque, are perfect for heavy-duty hauling, towing, and other work-related jobs requiring serious power.
Ram will also offer an alternative engine option: a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that produces 405 horsepower and 429 foot-pounds of torque.
These newly designed models will arrive in U.S. showrooms within the first quarter of this year. The starting prices will be around $47,560, approximately $2,300 more than current models on the market.
Ram’s 2025 Heavy Duty lineup will be a diverse range of options, featuring Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models. The entire lineup will offer customers various gas, turbo diesel, and electric vehicle options to suit a wide variety of needs.
Ram’s CEO Tim Kuniskis, who returned to the Stellantis fold in December following the sudden resignation of former CEO Carlos Tavares, is taking the helm to course correct the damage that’s been done. He publically admitted that delays in launching the redesigned trucks, notably the Ram 1500, contributed significantly to the brand’s decline. However, he confirms that the rollout of the 1500 is improving and will be on track soon.
Despite the mounting challenges, Ram’s CEO Tim Kuniskis is unwavering in his confidence that the improved rollout will accelerate the brand’s rebound and help regain lost market share.
However, it’s a big bet amid reports of a 19% year-over-year decline for 2024, which included a 16% shrink in sales for its pickup trucks– a critical segment in the American market.
