Sonic Automotive announced that it has acquired Audis Owings Mills dealership, located just northwest of Baltimore, Maryland. The company purchased the dealerships from AutoNation. It is the company’s first franchise acquisition since January. The sale brings the number of total franchised dealerships in the company’s portfolio to 112, including eight Audi stores.
In a statement, Sonic Automotive President Jeff Dyke said, “we are excited to once again expand our national franchise sales and service network. The acquisition of Audi Owing Mills allows us to continue delivering on the Audi brand promise and provide our guests with even more choices in the Maryland market.”
AutoNation only owned the Audi store for just over nine months, after buying the location and eight other luxury stores when the company acquired Priority 1 Automotive Group last November. Sonic also owns two standalone used-vehicle locations in Maryland.
