Seven Honda and Acura models secure IIHS top safety ratings

These awards highlight Honda's remarkable strides in advancing its "Safety for Everyone" initiative.

Five Honda and two Acura models have achieved a significant milestone in vehicle safety, successfully securing top Safety Pick (TSP) ratings or better from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2025.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback, Accord, and HR-V, the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP) rating, achieved the highest accolade. This award is reserved for vehicles that have earned the highest possible safety rating, demonstrate excellent performance in crash testing, and are equipped with advanced safety features. The Honda Civic Sedan, Honda Pilot, Acura Integra, and Acura MDX received a Top Safety Pick (TSP) rating.

All seven models performed well in the IIHS’s rigorous crash tests, earning a top “good” rating in both the small overlap front crash test and updated side crash test, which now accounts for 82% more crash energy than the previous evaluation.

The automakers continue to make their vehicles safer and smarter through their Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch safety and advanced drive-assistive technology suites. Nearly 9.5 million Honda and Acura vehicles on U.S. roadways have this comprehensive technology suite.

The awarded vehicle also incorporates Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structures designed to improve crash protection in various collision scenarios. Additional features include pretensioning seatbelts and an advanced airbag system with front, side, knee, and side-curtain airbags to enhance vehicle occupant safety.

Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” is its long-term safety initiative to eliminate traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and vehicles by 2050. The automaker consistently works to advance its crash-test technology and drive-awareness programs to enhance road safety for all. Awarding these seven vehicles recognizes the automaker’s progress toward achieving this ambitious goal.
