PA Subaru dealer surprises cancer patients with $5,000 in donations

The contribution from Rafferty Subaru aids in providing patients with both physical and emotional assistance while they're receiving treatment.

As part of the nationwide Subaru Loves to Care initiative supporting children and their families affected by blood cancer, Pennsylvania Rafferty Subaru recently partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, LLS, to surprise cancer patients at Paoli Hospital with a donation of 80 blankets, patient care kits, and handwritten messages of hope.

In the U.S., a new patient is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma every three minutes. Patients frequently report feeling cold, confined, and weak as a result of the prolonged and difficult nature of their treatment and rehabilitation programs. The contribution from Rafferty Subaru aids in providing patients with both physical and emotional assistance while they’re receiving treatment. Warm blankets and encouraging notes are just two of the ways Rafferty Subaru is dedicated to promoting the community’s health and well-being.

According to Bob Rafferty, Dealer Principal at Rafferty Subaru, “We know how physically and emotionally taxing cancer treatment can be, and we hope that our donations today help to ease those challenges and provide comfort for these brave members of our community and their families.” He continues, “This is just one of the many ways Rafferty gives back as a part of the Subaru Love Promise, and we’re grateful for the significant difference our collaboration with LLS and Paoli Hospital provides.”

Additionally, Rafferty Subaru gave $5,000 to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Patient Aid Program, which helps people with blood cancer pay for things like housing, food, and transportation as part of their medical care.

Rafferty Subaru’s collaboration with Paoli Hospital is just one example of the company’s year-round commitment to the neighborhood, which also includes relationships with the Providence Animal Center, TerraCycle, Sow Good Now, Partners in Outreach, Greenhouse Project, and other organizations.

Overall, Rafferty is one of the 600 national retailers around the nation working with LLS to help support families and children impacted. This is the eighth consecutive year that Subaru has partnered with LLS, and by the end of 2023, Subaru of America and its retailers will have supported roughly 300,000 cancer patients. Additionally, Subaru will match donations of LLS during Subaru Loves to Care month, June 1 through 30, totaling up to $150,000.
