Overcoming the Impossible – Denny Hecker
Denny Hecker spent years in the automotive industry building his empire. He owned and operated over 26 auto dealerships and the Advantage Rent-A-Car chain. He owned private jets, negotiated multi-million dollar deals and was a popular pitchman across the state of Minnesota. It all came crashing down in 2011 when he was sent to prison for bankruptcy and wire fraud. Denny was released in July. He joins us today to discuss his upcoming book, “Overcoming My Impossible” that hits bookstores in September, as well as how the car business has changed, and what advice he has for dealers today.
The mega-dealer started in automotive when he was eighteen years old and worked his way up. During our interview, he walked us through how he got there and what factors made it all possible. He credited his success to his ability to close deals. As he sees it, there are many parts of a business that contributes to general success, but it was his art of deal-making that allowed him to grow as quickly and to the height that he reached.
Denny is now an Author and Consultant. In his new book, “Overcoming My Impossible”, scheduled for release on September 18th of this year, He explains how to turn problems into opportunities. As much as the book recounts some of the high (and low points) of Hecker career and personal life, his message is less about an extravagant lifestyle and more about how to overcome difficulties and how to develop a mindset that allows you to reshape them to work in your favor.
