New boycott of Ford over its NFL sponsorship called by a Louisiana sheriff
A sheriff in Louisiana is calling for a boycott of Ford because of its NFL sponsorship. CNBC says in a letter to Hixson Ford in Alexandria, Louisiana, Sheriff Julian Whittington wrote, “Yes, the NFL players have a right to protest as they deem necessary, but we, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and taxpayers of Bossier Parish have a right to spend our money elsewhere.” Read More
GM, union reach deal that may settle Canadian strike
2,500 members of an autoworker’s union in Canada went on strike September 17th, shutting down operations on GM’s Chevrolet Equinox. Now, the two have reached a deal that will likely end the strike. USA Today says the deal still must be voted on by members. Terms have not been disclosed yet, but GM says it has invested $800 million in that plant, in a move that will show workers there that it plans to keep producing vehicles there. Read More
