How hiring veterans can boost your dealership’s success – Charlotte Creech | Hire Heroes USA

Today is Veterans Day, and many organizations are stepping up to support our nation’s heroes. One of those organizations, Hire Heroes USA, is helping veterans transition back into civilian life by providing them with the resources and career opportunities they need.

In today’s episode of CBT Now, we’re joined by Charlotte Creech, the Chief Program Officer of Hire Heroes USA. Hire Heroes USA is a nonprofit organization that assists veterans and military spouses with personalized career support to ease their transition into civilian life.

As of October 2024, the U.S. Department of Labor reported a concerning 3% rise in the veteran unemployment rate, up 2.9% from last year. Creech emphasizes that the best way to support veterans is by hiring them and providing meaningful employment.

Veterans bring a broad skillset to the table, such as leadership, project management, project execution, teamwork, and collaboration. These skills will translate well into the retail automotive space and are well suited to customer service and management roles.

In addition, veterans also bring some of the most unique and precious skills that may be difficult to find: elevated levels of personal accountability and passion.

By extending employment, dealerships will help veterans secure financial stability, gain skilled, mission-driven employees, and contribute to the country’s potential economic growth. This is a win-win situation that we should all strive for.

Dealers can significantly impact and support Hire Heroes USA’s mission in many ways. One of the easiest is by donating. However, organizations can go further by hosting independent fundraisers or volunteering.

Whether it’s through hiring veterans, making a financial contribution, or volunteering time, dealers can make a real difference in the lives of our nation’s heroes.

"Veterans bring unique skills to the table, like leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence." - Charlotte Creech
