Honda is urgently recalling over 187,000 Ridgeline pickup trucks from the 2020 through 2024 model years due to a safety issue with their backup cameras not displaying images. The faulty wiring harness in the tailgate is causing this critical problem, and it is prone to damage from road salt and water intrusion. Repeated tailgate opening and closing can break the harness and sever the connection between the backup camera and the vehicle display, posing a potential safety risk.
To address this issue, Honda dealerships will replace the faulty wiring harness with an upgraded version at no cost to the owners. This recall follows Honda’s similar action for older Ridgeline models facing comparable problems. While there have been 402 warranty claims related to this issue, no reported crashes or injuries are linked to it, as confirmed by documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
This recall affects Honda Ridgeline pickup trucks manufactured between November 8, 2019, and April 24, 2024. Owners can contact Honda at 888-234-2138 for further information or to schedule repairs. The NHTSA campaign number associated with this recall is 24V321, and Honda’s internal reference for this recall is YI7.
To ensure your safety, visit the NHTSA’s website and input your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). If no recall appears, your vehicle currently has no open recalls. However, since recalls are frequent and may affect older vehicles, it’s advisable to check regularly for any updates regarding your vehicle’s safety.
