Honda and Acura owners will soon enjoy the convenience of charging their electric vehicles (EV) at Tesla Supercharger locations. With the release of its first manufacturer-approved NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapter, Honda is ensuring that customers can charge their vehicles safely and reliably at any NACS DC charging point, providing a seamless charging experience.
One of the most significant hold-ups for customers considering an electric vehicle is range anxiety. Expanding charging options can make Honda and Acura EVs more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increase sales. Tesla’s Supercharger network, with over 20,000 ports available nationwide, is widely regarded as the most reliable and expansive fast-charging network in the United States.
Honda’s release of a manufacturer-approved adapter aligns with a growing industry trend of non-Tesla automakers, such as Ford, General Motors, and Mercedes-Benz, integrating with Tesla’s charging infrastructure to increase charging convenience for their customers.
The Honda-approved adapters will be available for purchase through authorized dealers starting in June 2025. The automaker has not yet confirmed the price point for the adapter and will release finalized details closer to the launch date. Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners will be notified via their EV app when the adapters are available for purchase. The app will also feature a new tool that allows customers to locate the nearest Tesla Supercharger easily, providing them with a convenient and stress-free charging experience.
By offering a reliable and safety-approved adapter for sale, Honda is taking a step in the right direction to fulfill its Charging Initiative. The mission aims to provide customers with expanded access to reliable charging. By 2030, the automaker aims to facilitate access to over 100,000 DC fast-charging points across North America, including the Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, EVgo, and ElectrifyAmerica networks.
