MotorTrend has awarded General Motors’ Super Cruise system the automotive industry’s best driver assistance program title in its inaugural Best Tech Awards. The new award series highlights groundbreaking technologies that redefine the driving experience.
Introduced in 2017, Super Cruise was the world’s first true hands-free Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for compatible roads. The system allows drivers to remove their hands from the wheel under specific conditions, enhancing convenience and safety. GM has continuously expanded its capabilities, with features like automatic lane change and lane change on demand.
By the end of 2025, Super Cruise will be available on approximately 750,000 miles of roads across the U.S. and Canada, supporting more than 20 GM models. Since its launch, GM customers have logged hundreds of millions of miles using the system.
In November 2024, GM showcased Super Cruise’s capabilities by organizing a caravan of 20 equipped vehicles across the Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco and Oakland. The demonstration reinforced the technology’s ability to handle complex driving conditions on major roadways.
MotorTrend’s recognition of Super Cruise reflects its impact on the automotive industry, as automakers continue to develop advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving technologies.
Furthermore, MotorTrend launched the new awards to celebrate groundbreaking technologies and innovations that redefine the driving and vehicle ownership experience.
