Ford Pro, the commercial division of Ford, has introduced the Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle to California, one of the largest commercial fleet markets in the U.S. This initiative aims to assist businesses with electric vehicle (EV) fleets, enhancing operations and reducing EV charging costs.
The Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle offers complimentary Level 2 48-amp or Level 2 80-amp chargers for depot and workplace charging to businesses subscribed to Ford Pro Charging software. This bundle addresses the complexity of charging operations for EV fleets, making it easier for companies to transition to EVs.
The all-electric E-Transit presents significant savings for businesses. It requires no gasoline, and scheduled maintenance costs are estimated to be 48 percent less than those of a gas-powered 2024 Transit®1. Additionally, businesses can use the smart charging software to schedule charging during off-peak hours, reducing utility costs.
A key feature of the Ford Pro Charging Software is the automated demand-to-grid response solution. This system reacts to grid events, such as high local demand, by automatically pausing charging, alerting the customer, and resuming charging once the event ends. This feature helps reduce the burden on the grid, minimizing the risk of brownouts/blackouts, and contributing to a more resilient power system. Ford Pro also manages the enrollment process for customers in California’s grid demand response programs and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) carbon credits program.
