Back in August of this year, eLend Solutions conducted a survey showing a big disconnect between how progressive dealers think they are and the extent to which they are actually implementing digital retailing. 68% of the dealers said the top benefit to digital retailing is shorter transaction times. Carlos Ghosn: Car Ownership Is Here to Stay
When it comes to the future of the auto industry, the opinion varies. Some people, like former GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, believe that dealerships are ultimately doomed, which Lutz addressed in a piece for AutoNews a few weeks ago. On the other hand, there are people like Carlos Ghosn, Chairman of the Alliance between Renault SA, Nissan, and Mitsubishi, who told Bloomberg that alternative forms of transportation will not kill car ownership, but compliment it. Elon Musk: Tesla’s unveiling of new vehicle will “Blow your mind”
Tesla is set to unveil its semi-truck via a webcast live tomorrow at 8pm EST. According to a tweet sent out by CEO Elon Musk, “This will blow your mind clear out of your skull and into an alternate dimension. Just need to find my portal gun.” The unveiling was supposed to take place back on October 26th, but Musk said the company was diverting resources to fix Model 3 bottlenecks and increase battery production for Puerto Rico and other affected areas.
