According to a recent Forbes article, auto lenders are relieved at the toned-down Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. A few years ago, the CFPB attempted to regulate the $900 billion dollar auto finance industry. One of the things the CFPB tried to do was accuse auto lenders of discriminating against minority buyers. Fast-forward to now and the CFPB has a new acting director in Mick Mulvaney, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Last week in an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal, Mulvaney said that on his watch, the CFPB would quit trying to “push the envelope” in regulating the finance industry. Read More
