Chrysler is recalling over 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee models due to a critical steering issue that could lead to loss of vehicle control.
The recall targets explicitly 338,238 units of the 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee variants.
Concern, detailed in documents published by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on February 27, arises from the potential separation of the upper control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. Such a separation could cause the wheel to tilt outward dramatically, significantly elevating the crash risk.
In response, Chrysler has committed to rectifying the issue for affected vehicle owners at no additional charge. Dealers are set to replace the compromised upper control arm pinch bolts to prevent dangerous separation and ensure the vehicles’ safety on the road. This proactive measure by Chrysler aims to maintain high safety standards and address the concerns of Jeep Grand Cherokee owners, reinforcing the importance of vehicle maintenance and manufacturer support in safeguarding public safety.
