CES 2025: The future of tech unfolds in Las Vegas

From groundbreaking AI to the next generation of smart home and car technology, this year promises to deliver more than just cool gadgets

The world’s largest Consumer Electronic Show, CES, is set to showcase groundbreaking innovations as it returns to Las Vegas this January.

With nearly 150,000 attendees and over 4,500 exhibitors expected, the event promises to reveal the next wave of consumer electronics, from flying cars to AI-driven agents. While the show officially kicks off on January 7, exclusive previews have already begun, and the buzz is palpable.

This year’s CES is shaping up to be an exciting mix of futuristic gadgets, useful innovations, and unexpected surprises.

For the first time, attendees will get hands-on experience with flying cars that are no longer just prototypes. They will also explore robot advancements, smart home technology, and age-tech.

Key trends to watch:

  1. AI agents:
AI technology is everywhere at CES this year, but the burning question is: What does it really mean for consumers? After last year’s disappointments, such as the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin, which did not meet expectations, this year, developers are focusing on creating AI agents that operate autonomously, mimicking human decision-making processes. However, while potentially exciting, these innovations also raise concerns about privacy and control.
  1. Age-tech:
Age tech is taking on a new level of importance at the CES. With many people over 50 and older living longer and more independently, there’s a growing need for devices that enhance safety, companionship, and quality of life. This year, we can expect to see more tech designed to help seniors thrive in a rapidly changing world.
  1. Smart home integration:
Smart home technology aims for seamless integration, but anyone with multiple devices knows that interoperability often presents challenges. While the introduction of “Matter” in 2024 was intended to resolve these issues, it has not yet delivered on that promise. This year, the event will show whether manufacturers have finally cracked the code for smarter, more user-friendly home systems that work across platforms like Apple, Amazon, and Google.
  1. Parent tech:
With kids growing up surrounded by technology, it’s critical to have the right tools to manage screen time, protect privacy, and ensure safe online behavior. The event will feature innovations that help parents guide their children through the digital landscape, providing much-needed control over devices and apps.
  1. Wearables & fitness tech:
Wearables and fitness gadgets have plateaued recently, but CES 2025 promises a revival. From advanced recovery tools like massage chairs to smarter fitness trackers, the next generation of health tech is set to help individuals reach their wellness goals more effectively. Plus, with tech like smarter recovery devices and sleep-enhancing bed technology, the line between fitness and overall well-being is becoming even more blurred.
  1. Car tech:
Cars are no longer just for getting from point A to point B—they’re the ultimate gadgets. At CES, automotive technology takes center stage with solar-powered vehicles, new windshield displays, and a chance to experience flying cars. Two companies will showcase their “flying car” models, and one even offers attendees the opportunity to take a solo flight.

Nevertheless, from groundbreaking AI to the next generation of smart home and car technology, this year promises to deliver more than just cool gadgets- it’s a glimpse into tomorrow’s world.
