Ford Motor Company’s Jim Farley shook things up on his first official day as CEO on Thursday. In an effort to drive growth and innovation at Ford, Farley announced some “operational and leadership changes” by replacing current CFO Tim Stone with Ford veteran John Lawler. This move firmly cements Farley’s position of power at Ford and demonstrates to shareholders that he’s not wasting any time.

According to a Yahoo Finance earnings analysis, Lithia Motors has released strong preliminary third-quarter numbers. Based on the results, Lithia is predicting net income per diluted share in the range of $6.10 to $6.40 for the quarter. This shows an increase of 68-76% from this time last year. Despite the economic burden faced by the auto industry due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the company continues to deliver solid results.

Tesla’s Autopilot system has ranked sixth out of 10 driver assistance systems evaluated in a European safety assessment, scoring low on its ability to keep drivers engaged. The EV titan’s Model 3 received the highest marks for performance and ability to respond to emergencies, however, it did not perform well enough overall to out-pace the Mercedes-Benz GLE’s system.

The city of Libertyville, Illinois has revived its “Shop Libertyville Rewards” program to support local small businesses in the community. Customers who purchase or lease a new vehicle from any of the town’s 12 dealerships, will receive a $200 credit to spend at participating small businesses around the city. This tight-knit community heavily relies on auto dealers for sales tax revenue and job creation, and this program has gotten positive responses from residents and business owners alike.
