Pasch is back on the show to discuss what transpired in 2020 in the automotive industry and what dealers can expect as we move into 2021. Pasch opens the conversation by giving a personal perspective on how the pandemic impacted his company. When travel came to stop, Pasch was concerned about how his company would continue to provide consulting services across the country. The 2021 Consumer Credit Forecast was released by TransUnion this month. It predicts that access to consumer credit is expected to rebound entering 2021. This follows a tumultuous 2020 where unsecured lending slowed substantially from the second quarter and beyond. While access to consumer credit products is expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels, access to auto loans is likely to tighten, favoring the car buyer that has a traditional, low-risk profile. This all hinges on vaccine distribution and a general reopening of the economy. Read more
A survey of Americans has put numbers to the concept that Americans value safety and reliability more than ever. As the pandemic drags on, car owners are using personal transportation as a bubble, keeping them safe and healthy. The Safety First: The Evolution of Driving and Mobility in 2020 Study was performed by Volvo Car USA and the Harris Poll in September and October, surveying more than 4,000 adults in the U.S. The survey collected critical data on the safety features customers desired as well as the role that cars play in daily operations. The compilation gave insight into expectations as mobility evolves permanently due to the pandemic.
