Tesla CEO Elon Musk donates fleet of Cybertrucks to assist in L.A. wildfires

Elon Musk, Tesla, and SpaceX employees are stepping up in big ways to assist wildfire-stricken areas.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is jumping in headfirst to support first responders, employees, and displaced citizens during the tragic L.A. wildfires.

The catastrophic disaster has displaced thousands of citizens, destroyed hundreds of acres of land, and destroyed more than 12,000 structures. This wildfire is estimated to be roughly $150 billion in damages.

With its high-tech solutions, Tesla is stepping in to assist areas in need. The automaker took to X to update the public with a summary of its efforts and plans to help further. Impacted employees will receive housing accommodations, transportation support, and meals.

The automakers also dispatched a fleet of Megapack Chargers (MPCs) and Mobile Powerwall Units (MPUs) to several fire-stricken areas to relieve congestion under evacuation orders and provide power solutions to places that have lost power.

However, most notably, Tesla has diverted several Cybertruck deliveries and donated the fleet to support the fire-fighting efforts. Musk apologized to customers whose deliveries have been diverted, advising them that they can expect a replacement by the end of the week.

Each donated Cybertruck is equipped with Starlink to provide free internet connections to wildfire-stricken areas. In addition, Tesla packed the beds of the trucks with cases of water and snacks to support first responders.

Despite Musk’s recent public clashes with California Governor Newsom and being in the headlines due to his politicking, Musk’s willingness to jump into action is commendable.

“The press will accuse me of grandstanding,” Musk said in a post on his X account, “But, if this helps save even one house of maybe someone’s life, we should still do it.”
