On this episode of Training Camp with Adam Marburger, Brooke Guy, General Manager at Coastal Chevy and Cadillac, shares insights on how her physical fitness routine, commitment to training, and leadership style have fueled her success in the automotive industry. From her morning rituals to the importance of cross-departmental collaboration, Brooke brings a fresh perspective on what it takes to thrive personally and professionally.
Brooke Guy’s journey to becoming General Manager at Coastal Chevy and Cadillac is a testament to her dedication and growth. Growing up in a family deeply established in the automotive industry, Guy initially resisted following in her father’s footsteps but found her passion for the industry over time. She began in sales, then moved to marketing, and eventually took on roles in F&I and the desk, eventually earning the title of General Manager.
Along the way, Guy gained valuable experience working with different departments, which she now credits for helping her manage multiple stores. What sets Guy apart is her commitment to physical and mental well-being.
An avid CrossFit enthusiast, she integrates fitness into her daily routine to ensure she remains focused and effective in her role. She emphasizes that maintaining physical health improves mental clarity, benefiting her professionally and personally. “If you’re healthy physically, you can be healthy mentally, and it translates into everything else you do,” she says.
Additonally, as a leader, Guy advocates for comprehensive training, not only for the sales and F&I departments but also for service personnel. She shared that at Coastal Chevy and Cadillac, teams are required to complete two videos a day from Cardone University, and daily training meetings cover everything from product knowledge to closing techniques.
Further, Guy highlights the importance of consistency in training and emphasizes that it’s crucial for all departments, including service, which often connects with customers multiple times a year. She believes that investing in training leads to improved confidence and, ultimately, better results, saying, “It was insane to watch people’s trust levels grow after the training. They knew how to sell and overcome objections, which built confidence.”
Guy’s leadership style focuses on collaboration between departments. She sees the desk and F&I departments as vital partners in ensuring successful deals, with both teams working seamlessly to maximize each transaction. She says, “If you don’t have the desk and F&I on the same page, it’s not going to set the deal up for the maximum potential.”
“Training is not something we did—it’s something we must do. It’s an ongoing process that builds confidence, trust, and success across all departments. Whether it’s sales, service, or office staff, consistent training is the key to achieving greatness.” – Brooke Guy.
