Ford Pro, the commercial division of Ford Motor Company, has unveiled new digital tools, including E-Switch Assist, designed to help businesses determine whether their fleets are ready to transition to electric vehicles (EVs). This advanced tool uses real-time data analysis to evaluate fleet operations and recommends which gas-powered vehicles could switch to electric without disrupting business operations.
E-Switch Assist is a web-based tool now available in the U.S. and several European countries, including the UK, France, Italy, and Germany. It analyzes connected vehicle data using algorithms developed by Ford Pro’s data science team, comparing the energy consumption of current gas and diesel vehicles with the estimated needs of electric alternatives like the E-Transit van and F-150 Lightning pickup. The tool accounts for various factors like distance traveled, cargo load, terrain, driver behavior, climate conditions, and vehicle efficiency to recommend which vehicles are suitable for the transition to EVs.
Ford Pro’s goal with this tool is to guide businesses and government customers through the transition, offering insights to help make the switch smoother. According to Ford, nearly 53% of over 38,000 commercial vehicles assessed by E-Switch Assist are potential candidates for electrification.
Moreover, Nathan McDonald, EV Strategy and Brand Manager at Ford Pro, emphasized that the tool helps foster meaningful conversations with commercial clients about EV readiness. “These tools are changing mindsets about whether electric vehicles will work for their business while potentially saving them time and money,” McDonald said.
For businesses ready to move forward after the assessment, Ford Pro provides comprehensive solutions, including commercial-grade chargers for both home and worksites, as well as telematics and software to manage their electric fleets.
By offering a clear pathway for businesses to evaluate and integrate EVs, Ford Pro aims to lead the charge in commercial electrification, aligning with growing trends toward sustainability and operational efficiency. Companies can sign up for a complimentary E-Switch Assist assessment to start their transition to electric today.
