Ford mobilizes disaster relief efforts in response to hurricanes Helene and Milton

As Ford and its dealers continue to support disaster-stricken communities, their long-term commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism remains unwavering.

Ford and its philanthropic arm, Ford Philanthropy, are intensifying their disaster relief efforts in the Southeast following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. For 75 years, Ford has prioritized supporting communities in need, and with the rise in weather-related disasters, its contributions are more critical than ever. The company has mobilized grants, vehicles, and volunteer efforts to assist impacted areas, partnering with organizations like Team Rubicon, the American Red Cross, and Feeding America.

In response to Hurricane Helene, Ford supports the veteran-led humanitarian organization Team Rubicon as they provide disaster relief in Florida, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee. Ford Philanthropy has contributed financial support and matches donations up to $100,000. This effort is part of Ford’s ongoing $5.8 million, five-year commitment to Team Rubicon, which includes a fleet of F-150s, Super Duty trucks, Broncos, and employee volunteer involvement. Ford dealers in the region are also creating dedicated fleets of loaner vehicles equipped with Pro Power Onboard to aid power outages and keep perishable food safe.

Ford’s commitment to volunteerism is highlighted by its Volunteer Corps, launched in 2005 by Executive Chair Bill Ford. In support of the current relief efforts, the company has extended its Volunteer Paid Time Off policy from 16 to 56 hours, enabling employees to assist organizations like Team Rubicon. Training sessions were held for Texas-based employees, and many have signed up to volunteer in disaster-stricken areas.

The automaker has a long-standing partnership with the American Red Cross, supporting the organization for over 75 years. As Hurricane Helene hit, the Red Cross deployed nearly 500 disaster workers and numerous emergency response vehicles to assess damage, distribute meals, and provide supplies to those in need. Meanwhile, Ford’s collaboration with Feeding America includes grant funding and volunteer work. Over 700 Ford employees have contributed more than 4,000 hours at local food banks this year. The company also provides 150 pallets of bottled water to areas affected by drinking water shortages.

Ford’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond immediate disaster relief. The company is deepening its partnership with World Central Kitchen, which provides fresh meals to people in need during crises and has supported their work in previous disasters like Hurricanes Ian and Maria. In addition, Ford Philanthropy is working with local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Hispanic Federation to address the specific needs of vulnerable communities, including farmworkers and indigenous language speakers.

As Ford and its dealers continue to support disaster-stricken communities, their long-term commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism remains unwavering. This ensures that relief reaches those most in need during critical times.
