GM unveils redesigned GMC Terrain with enhanced features and new ‘Elevation’ trim

As part of the update, GM has streamlined the Terrain’s model lineup by combining the entry-level “SLE” and “SLT” trims.

General Motors has unveiled a redesigned version of its popular GMC Terrain compact crossover, introducing a more rugged exterior and a host of new standard features, including the debut of a new “Elevation” trim.

The refreshed Terrain boasts a bolder design and an updated interior that features 26 inches of screen space, including a 15-inch center touchscreen and an 11-inch driver information cluster. These screens are part of a suite of new standard safety and convenience features, such as adaptive cruise control, front heated seats, and enhanced automatic emergency braking. The Terrain also comes equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless integration of smartphone apps for navigation, music, and more.

As part of the update, GM has streamlined the Terrain’s model lineup by combining the entry-level “SLE” and “SLT” trims into the new Elevation trim already used on other GMC vehicles. While GM has not yet disclosed pricing for the redesigned Terrain, it is expected to begin arriving in GMC showrooms later this year. The current model’s pricing ranges from approximately $30,000 to $40,000.

The Elevation trim will launch first, followed by the off-road-focused AT4 and luxury-oriented Denali models. The Terrain has consistently been one of GMC’s best-selling non-truck vehicles, with its sales up 31% year over year through the first half of 2024, following a 17% decline in 2023. GMC manufactures the vehicle in Mexico, and it remains a key part of GMC’s diverse lineup, which includes everything from compact crossovers to large trucks and SUVs, such as the GMC Hummer EVs.
