The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has declared several changes to its leadership team, including appointing an executive vice president for public policy. The first person to uphold the new position will be Paul Metrey, who served as NADA’s senior vice president of regulatory affairs since April 2021.
The move also follows the retirement announcement of the executive vice president of legislative affairs, David Regan. Regan has worked with NADA for 23 years.
“One of NADA’s most important functions is to advance the issues and agenda specific to America’s auto and commercial truck dealers,” stated Mike Stanton, president and CEO of NADA. “Paul Metrey leads NADA’s public policy strategy, outreach, and lobbying. He brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and unparalleled subject expertise to this new job. Paul is the ideal candidate to advance our mission because he has long been a crucial member of NADA’s policy and advocacy team.”
For the past 23 years, Metrey has worked on regulatory matters on behalf of the country’s licensed new car and truck dealers. On November 1, 2023, he formally took on the position of executive vice president of public policy. In this capacity, he will oversee all legislative affairs, regulatory affairs, and public affairs initiatives within NADA.
More changes include Andy Koblenz, former executive vice president of legal and regulatory affairs and general counsel, who has been appointed executive vice president of strategic affairs and industry initiatives.
Former senior vice president and associate general counsel Jim Minnis is now the head of the legal department and general counsel.
Doug Greenhaus, who served as vice president of regulatory affairs prior to his retirement, is now a consultant.
Following his promotion to senior vice president of regulatory affairs, Daniel Ingber joined NADA in the summer of 2023 as vice president of regulatory affairs. Before joining NADA, Ingber was chief in-house counsel at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), overseeing regulatory affairs, government relations, and the organization’s D.C. office.
“NADA 2024 Chairman Gary Gilchrist noted, ‘The NADA personnel is the best of the best. “Of all the trade associations for the industry, NADA boasts the most skilled and knowledgeable professionals in the areas of legislation, communications, regulation, and law. These personnel adjustments guarantee that NADA will continue representing dealers’ interests in Washington, D.C., for many years.
