Pete talks about how PII, personal identifiable information, have transitioned, not only to online transactions but also to more considerable data, such as customer’s social security numbers. However, the industry seems to look at this data as more enhanced, without the consideration of protecting this data. In addition, Pete says that fraud doesn’t happen where dealers expect it to, such as during an online credit application. But rather fraud actually happens when the data is sitting unused within the company’s servers or when it is being accessed through these servers, and Pete says that it is here that proper authentication and security is crucial.
