Joel Williams is currently the Managing Partner of Garber NCS Inc., which includes New York-based Garber Chevrolet of Webster and Garber Subaru Rochester. Initially from Detroit, Michigan, the 34-year-old has come a long way from his first job as a Buffalo Wild Wings server. His entry into the auto world was unique in that it started with him failing his first automotive exam in college, which he says gave him a sign that he “had to try” and “there was a drive [he] needed to get the job done.”
After landing an internship with Garber Chevrolet in Midland, which Williams said might have been “destiny,” he held sales roles at various dealerships before realizing his ultimate dream, which was to own his own store by age 30. In 2020, he got his chance when Garber Management Group purchased Volvo Cars Rochester and Dick Garber, the President of the auto group, personally offered Williams the job. He would enter his current role soon after.
Despite his young age, Williams has amassed an impressive 14 years of experience in the industry. He is also a NADA Academy graduate and served as the Vice President for the Rochester Chevrolet Dealer LMA. Remarking on success in general, he states that, “When you’re going towards a career and want to get to the next level, you need to be focused and dedicated because that’s how you get better each day.”
In his spare time, Joel enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole, and his two sons, Jayden and Jaxson. He says he also enjoys “digging up the grass on the golf course.” Although he has found much success, he admits he could not have done it alone, noting that, “no one is an island; you can’t do it yourself.”
