Chris Benvie holds the position of Director of Marketing and Pre-Owned Operations at McGovern Auto Group, which has stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York. Originally from Needham, Massachusetts, his journey in the automotive industry started early, as he sold his first car at the age of 14. The foundation of his automotive career, he states, was his family’s history in the business as they owned a Ford dealership from 1929 to 2006 in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
With 26 years of experience in the industry, Benvie’s notable achievements include transforming the marketing department into a robust team of five members overseeing social, digital, and traditional media presence, making McGovern Auto Group a regional leader. Additionally, he spearheaded the establishment of a 7-person pre-owned buying team and a 2-person wholesale remarketing team, contributing to approximately $3 million in monthly gross profit across the group. He also played a pivotal role in expanding inventory to become the largest pre-owned inventory in the Northeast.
One of Benvie’s proudest moments in his career was making the transition from Cox Automotive to McGovern Auto Group. With Benvie’s help, the group has expanded from 7 dealerships to 27 and now employs over 1,500 individuals, contributing significantly to its growth and success.
Looking ahead, Benvie envisions a future where McGovern Auto Group becomes the largest dealer group in New England. To achieve this, he aims to add nine more dealerships to the group. His favorite quote is, “To the world, you are just one person, but to just one person, you could be the world.”
